Ur

Short-Term Urban Missions Experience
Have your life changed forever on the streets of NYC!

ON A MISSION.
People on the streets show up for the great food, but come away with so much more. Staff and volunteers go out of their way to really LOVE people. Many people on the streets are in a hard place in life and need a friend- someone to talk to who will really listen. When we discover the needs in people’s lives, we go to work to actually help meet those needs. We have seen men and women totally turn their lives around because someone they met on the bus took the time to care.

BE CHANGED. If accepted, you can serve on The Relief Bus from one week to three years, experiencing the adventure of working as an urban missionary on the streets of New York City, helping the homeless and making a difference.

The experience is intense and challenging, requires early mornings and physical labor. It can be emotionally draining, but it will change your life forever!

DAY TO DAY. You will be out on the streets serving up to 4 days per week (Wed-Thurs-Fri-Sat), attend our tuesday devotional gatherings, and otherwise be a part of all Relief Bus activities.

HOUSING AND COSTS. Short-term missionaries stay in apartments in staff homes. Space is limited.

The cost for housing is $400 per month, $100 per week, or $15 per day, which does not include food, personal items, or any other expenses. These expenses will be solely your responsibility. We suggest that you have enough funds to cover these expenses and room at a minimum of $600 – $650 per month total. In addition, any friends or family members who might stay or visit will be charged $15 per night. If you live nearby and can travel to our locations and the Relief Center on required days, there would be no housing costs. Travel costs are your responsibility.

FUNDRAISING.
The Relief Bus partners with an organization called The Bodybuilders to
train and equip urban missionaries to raise the support needed to work
full-time with the poor and homeless. The BodyBuilders is a non-profit,
non-denominational, para church organization that seeks to mobilize and
build up the Body of Christ. They provide training for many different
ministries, churches, and denominations in the U.S. and overseas. Their
objective is to provide each group and individual vision and equipping to
help them be more effective in fulfilling the Great Commission. The fundraising strategies and tools that The Bodybuilders provides are proven, biblical methods. Applicants who are chosen are referred to enlist in one of The Bodybuilder's Personal Support Raising Boot Camps.

Personal Support Raising Boot Camp is an intense two-day training seminar to help Christian workers get to their ministry assignment quickly and fully funded. Whether you are just starting out or are a veteran in support raising, God can use a Boot Camp to change your perspective and approach in this critical area. We want to help you avoid the pitfalls and put to rest your doubts, fears, and questions. We have served over 400 ministries, and by God's grace, we believe we can help you!

WHAT THEY SAID.
“God healed so many things and transformed my depressed, fearful and lonely life through relationships from The Relief Bus. I learned to be myself and I understood that I am loved by God just as I am. I have more vision, faith and courage to go forward with God.” -Susanna

“It was important realize that when I face people in need, it’s God who I can rely on for salvation and all kinds of help. And I am the first one in need. My part is just to obey Him and share the good news and hope. This gives the attitude of compassion and joy in serving the poor.” -Antto

“When I came to serve with The Relief Bus I was a Christian, but didn’t really know the love of God. By communicating the love of God to people on the street I started to experience it for myself and it really changed my life and my relationship with God!” -Johanna
