Bill Hoffman

Vice President/ General Manager-
(EMAIL)

Bio:
Bill has worked with NYCR since 1991. Being able to identify with the pains of an addict--having been one himself--he has successfully done crisis counseling with countless needy people suffering from life-controlling problems. He was ordained as a pastor in 1997, and certified as a Licensed Pastoral Counselor in 1999. Bill and his wife Stephanie have two daughters 15 and 27.

After helping pioneer and run the bus outreach from 1991-1998, his one-on-one counseling experience on the streets led him to go back to school for counseling to make his counseling skills more effective. These gifts and skills were utilized as president of The Hope Center until recently, that Bill will be returning to the Relief Bus team to bolster resource connections, and lend his years of experience into the younger leadership coming up. Bill helps pastor our team, interns, and short term missionaries.

What I do with the Relief Bus:
Being the “old timer” of the team gives me the opportunity to pour into the lives of the next generation of leadership coming up.  Some of my tasks will be; to re-establish relationships with the many resources that we use to connect people in need with help, such as rehabs, churches, detox’s, and many other resources, supporting our younger leadership through lending my experience into established methods of operation, as well as establishing new methods and systems.

Pastoring the team, short term missionaries, and interns, has been a part of my responsibility as well. Helping to provide a regular discipleship mode for all of us here on the team is an important aspect of what we do, and more importantly, who we are.  I especially focus on new people who join us that have no experience in urban missions work at all that find it difficult to integrate into  the frontline type of environment here at New York City Relief. We have an obligation to raise them us so that when they leave here, they can go on in more sensitive obedience to the call of God on their lives, and become leaders in their churches and communities.
