Austin Bonds

Director of Relief Bus Outreach- (EMAIL)

Bio:
Austin escaped a life of poverty and drug and alcohol abuse to overcome great odds to now help people with similar challenges on the streets of New York City with The Relief Bus. He previously owned a home inspection business, worked as a youth pastor, and as a subcontractor. He moved his family out from Indiana in July of 2007 to join the team at NYCR. Austin has a heart for the poor and addicted and can relate well to those we come in contact with on a daily basis. In 2001, he earned a degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Recreation Management and Youth Ministry. Austin and his wife Darcy have three sons, Eli, Quintin and Isaiah.

What I Do With The Relief Bus:
I am out on the streets two or three days a week doing outreach. I oversee the Relief Bus outreaches, manage operations staff and volunteers, oversee maintenance on the outreach vehicles and our building, train teams that come out, and do whatever else needs to be done.

Why I Work With The Relief Bus:
I believe that God has called me here to work with the poor because I believe that it is something close to God’s heart. I want to have my hand in mobilizing the church and providing a platform for them to go to the streets.
